White Porcelain. The Porcelain Thimble

Anticipation of a meeting.

In the drawer of Eva's desk lay a white porcelain thimble with a blue rim. Her school friend Lada had given it to her when she moved north with her parents: as girls they had sewn dresses for their dolls together, and they had shared that one thimble between them.

Ten years had passed since then. They wrote to each other and called on holidays, but they had never once met. This evening Lada was coming to town for a week.

In the morning Eva put White Porcelain on her wrists. Mandarin and lime sounded light and brief, mint and galbanum added a cool green, and Eva arrived at the bureau before anyone else.

By noon lily of the valley, lily and tuberose had opened on her skin, white and transparent, with a fine cold gleam like porcelain. Eva was drawing a map of a new district, but kept glancing at the clock and smiling for no reason.

Her colleague Efrem, with whom she shared a large drawing table, put down his pencil and looked at her.

"Eva, you smell so fresh today, as if someone had brought lilies of the valley into the bureau. And you've been smiling all day. Is something good about to happen?" asked Efrem. Eva laughed and told him about Lada.

By evening the warm notes of sandalwood, cedar and musk remained, soft and clean. Eva closed her drawing folder and opened the desk drawer.

She took out the white porcelain thimble, put it in the pocket of her coat and went to the station to meet Lada.

How it sounds

The opening is light and cool: mandarin, lime and orange give a brief citrus spark, mint, lavender and galbanum a cool green.

At the heart are white flowers: lily of the valley, lily, tuberose, jasmine and narcissus sound transparent and delicate. Aldehydes add a cold gleam like fine porcelain, iris powderiness, and thyme, rosemary, cardamom and clove a light spice.

In the base sandalwood, cedar and vetiver give a soft woody sound, oakmoss a forest coolness, and amber and musk leave a clean, light trail.

What makes it special

White Porcelain belongs to the Chilini Private collection. The brand dedicates it to a woman who wants to be tender and gentle, the way she feels inside when she is happy, and compares the fragrance to a weightless petal in the wind and to thin, translucent white porcelain. It is a light white-floral fragrance for spring and summer.

@svetoshow.moscow on Instagram writes: "An early spring morning is dawning, the porcelain bells of primroses are covered with crystals of ice" and adds: "A feeling of transparent white freshness."

nathings on Fragrantica notes: "It sounds refined and very unusual."

*Quotes translated from Russian.*

People wear it for lightness: on a spring day before a long-awaited meeting and in a bright drawing office.
