The cursor on the screen had been blinking in front of Olya for six hours straight. She was finishing a program for a bank and had not even noticed the first snow falling outside overnight.

Olya lived from one deadline to the next. She postponed weekends, promised friends she would call back, and put off walks until the release.

Her younger brother, a student from Petrozavodsk, was staying with her for a week. In the morning he opened the curtains and gasped: the yard had turned white up to the car roofs.

The day before, Olya had put Source Code on her wrists, and the soft warm scent stayed on her skin until morning.

Her brother pulled on a hat and called her outside. "Another half hour," Olya replied, looking at the screen. He went out alone and twenty minutes later came back rosy-cheeked and hugged her with cold hands.

He breathed in at her shoulder and laughed. "You smell like Grandma's forest near Kem in November," he said. Olya remembered the mossy hummocks, the tall pines and the loose snow they had run through as children.

She closed the laptop, put on an old jacket and went out into the yard with her brother. Until lunch they built a snowman, and then they walked for a long time along the snowy embankment.

In the evening Olya opened the laptop again. The cursor was blinking in the same place, and she finished the program in an hour.

Every second we live is precious.

How it smells

The opening is bright and juicy. Cranberry gives a tart berry freshness, bergamot and mandarin add citrus light, pink pepper brings a light tingle.

The heart is dense and velvety. Violet sounds powdery, cocoa wraps it in warm bittersweet sweetness, rose and coriander add a spicy flower, juniper gives coniferous coolness.

The base is resinous and cosy. Massoia wood and vanilla give creamy warmth, labdanum adds resin, cedar and pine leave a trail of winter forest, patchouli deepens it.

What makes it special

Source Code belongs to the private Chilini Private collection, whose scents are made from expensive and rare materials. The brand describes it as dense, viscous and bittersweet, and the scent's motto is: "Every second we live is precious." The author of the @hab_tales channel found in it "a curious mix of floral, woody and fruity notes" and calls it "cosy… warm, rounded," lasting "more than 12 hours." Elena Kaurova on VKontakte writes: "cranberry, a mossy hummock… and loose first snow! My favourite among cranberry scents." Another fan recommends it to "lovers of northern mosses and berries." People wear it for a warmth that reminds them how precious every moment is.
