No Faith In Love. The Key with the Yellow Head
Updated: Oct 16

His key had hung on her key ring for three weeks, long, with a yellow head, and it clinked against her keys with every step. In the morning she took the ring off its hook and held it in her palm for a long time.
They had lived together for four years. In May he said he was tired, and a week later she was renting a room near the metro. They agreed she would drop the key into his letterbox when she was ready.
It was June, windy and sunny. She put on No Faith In Love, bought for herself last birthday, and set off to his place on foot, although the walk took forty minutes.
The wind tossed her hair and crept under her light jacket. At every crossing the keys clinked in her pocket, and every time she wanted to turn back.
On the bridge the wind gusted harder, and she covered her face with her hand. The scent came from her wrist: bitter fresh grass and green tea, and then jasmine, cool and bright, with a drop of honey. Bitterness and sweetness moved in it together, and breathing grew easier.
She stopped at the railing and stood there until her breath steadied. Below, a pleasure boat was going down the river, and a little girl on deck was waving at everyone. She waved back and smiled for the first time in three weeks.
At his building she took the key off the ring, dropped it through the slot of the letterbox and heard it knock against the tin bottom.
She walked back slowly. The key ring lay quiet in her pocket, and now the wind was at her back.
The hope of mutual love always lives in us.
How it smells
The opening is bitter-fresh: green grass and green tea, with blackcurrant adding juice.
Then jasmine comes out, cool and bright, with lily of the valley and neroli ringing beside it, and white honey adds a drop of sweetness.
By evening sandalwood and musk gather the flowers close to the skin, soft and clean.
What makes it special
No Faith In Love belongs to the Chilini Private collection, a floral fruity scent for women for spring and summer. The brand describes it as the bitterness of the wind of change, in which shimmers of joy and hope play along with openness to a new feeling. Its heart gathers five kinds of jasmine: Egyptian, Indian, Spanish, Arabian sambac and Madagascan. A Kosmetista author calls it the strict, cool beauty of jasmine, most refreshing in the heat. The blogger at Fifi hears a bitterish, well-composed jasmine with honeyed sweetness and a kinship with Acqua di Parma Acqua Nobile Gelsomino. No Faith In Love is worn in summer, when you want to open up to something new again.
