Sweetness and saltiness, warm sea and hot sand.

Around Maya's neck hung an old pair of lifeguard binoculars on a worn strap. Every morning she climbed the tower with them and watched the water until evening, and at night she hung them on the hook by the door.

The season was over. Tomorrow Maya was due back in the city, at the office where her desk had been kept since spring. The owner of the beach had offered her the job of station keeper for the winter, and she had promised him an answer today.

That morning she put Miami Beach on her wrists. Marine notes and bitter orange sounded fresh and salty, magnolia added floral tenderness, and the wind off the sea seemed warmer to Maya.

By noon sand notes, coconut and tiare had opened on her skin, warm and soft. The beach was almost empty, and Maya watched the few swimmers and the gulls over the waves through the binoculars.

In the afternoon her partner Tikhon climbed the tower with two cups of tea. He sat beside her on the bench and squinted at the sun.

"Maya, you smell like the beach itself. Sand, sea, flowers. As if you'd always lived here," said Tikhon. Maya laughed, then fell to thinking: she really could not remember when she had last felt so calm in the city.

By evening vanilla, benzoin and amber remained on her skin, warm and calm. The sun was setting into the sea, and Maya dialled the beach owner's number.

When she put the phone down, she took the binoculars from her neck and hung them on the hook by the door, until next summer.

How it sounds

The opening is fresh and salty: marine and sunny notes give the feel of a warm breeze, bitter orange and orange blossom add a citrus spark, and magnolia and plumeria a light floral note.

At the heart is the beach: sand notes warm and soft, coconut and beeswax add creamy sweetness, and tiare, ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine make the bouquet tender.

In the base vanilla and benzoin warm it, cedar gives dry wood, labdanum a light resinous touch, and amber and musk leave a warm trail close to the skin.

What makes it special

Miami Beach belongs to the Olfactorium collection. The brand describes it as a blend of sweetness and saltiness, warm sea and hot sand: sea breeze, citrus and exotic flowers create a holiday mood. It is a marine floral women's fragrance for summer.

Chernika9 on Kosmetista admits: "I usually passed marine fragrances by, but I couldn't help falling in love with this one."

She also describes it this way: "As if a snow-white flower had just been picked from the tree and laid on the wet sand, where a cool sea wind can be felt."

Quotes translated from Russian.

People wear it for summer: on a hot day, by the shore, and whenever they want to stay where life feels good.
