Good Morning. The Alarm Clock on the Nightstand

Let every morning be joyful.

The alarm clock on the nightstand rang at six. Timofey worked as a cook in a seaside café, stood at the stove until midnight every evening, and at weekends always switched the alarm off without looking.

This June Sunday he sat up in bed. It was growing light outside, gulls cried over the roofs, and cool air drifted in from the sea through the open window.

Timofey splashed his face with cold water and put Good Morning on his wrists. Mandarin and mint sounded fresh and clear, and the last of his sleepiness was gone.

He went down to the pier while the beach was empty. While Timofey swam, thyme and juniper opened on his skin, herbal and brisk, and he floated for a long time, watching the sun rise over the horizon.

At the end of the pier sat an old man with a fishing rod. Timofey saw him every evening from the kitchen window but had never spoken to him.

"You smell good. Like a morning in a forest by the sea," the old man said when Timofey sat down beside him to dry off. They sat together for an hour, and the old man showed him where the fish bite best at dawn.

By noon cedar and vetiver remained on his skin, warm and calm. Timofey went home, made himself breakfast without hurrying and for the first time that summer felt that his day off was long.

In the evening he picked up the alarm clock from the nightstand and set it for six.

How it sounds

The opening is fresh and clear: mandarin, orange, lemon, lime and bergamot give juicy citrus coolness, mint adds a chill, and pink pepper a light spark.

At the heart the herbs open: thyme, lavender, rosemary and bay sound brisk and clean, juniper and cypress bring coniferous freshness, and cardamom and nutmeg gently warm the bouquet.

In the base cedar, pine and vetiver give fresh wood, sandalwood and guaiac warm it, and musk leaves a calm, warm trail on the skin.

What makes it special

Good Morning belongs to the private Chilini Private collection, whose fragrances are made from expensive and rare ingredients. It is the mood of a good morning at the start of the day: citrus and herbal freshness charges you with optimism, and spicy accords add to the pleasure of sea and sun on holiday. A citrus herbal men's fragrance for spring and summer.

Mac_Cecht on Kosmetista writes: "It really is a very fresh, morning, invigorating fragrance." Olgolga on Fragrantica calls it "a positive charge of freshness for the whole day": "Cool, refreshing, like a glass of orange juice with your morning coffee."

On Instagram: "A little carefreeness and a merry green wind in grown-up weekdays." And on Fragrantica, briefly: "Woods, pine needles and lemon, brisk, I adore it."

People wear it for energy and a clear head from the first minutes of the day. A morning you don't have to piece together again.
