Atom. The Slide Rule

In Veniamin's briefcase lay a slide rule in a worn case. His father had given it to him when he started his studies, but he had long done all his calculations on the computer, and the slide rule lay there under a stack of papers.

Veniamin worked as an engineer in a test hall, checking the strength of new materials. The most important tests came in spring, and the figures had to be recalculated several times.

In April the first warm days arrived. In the morning Veniamin put Atom on his wrists, and juniper, lime and bergamot sounded clean and fresh, while cardamom added a warm spicy spark.

By noon jasmine buds, rosewood and galbanum opened on his skin, green and woody, and resins gave a calm warm background. Veniamin worked clearly all day and never once made a slip in his figures.

Angelina, the hall's lab assistant, brought him the latest test data.

"Veniamin, it smells as if someone has just opened a window onto a spring forest. There's just the last sample to work out, and then we can go home," said Angelina.

By evening styrax, vanilla, sandalwood, musk and amber remained, soft and warm. Just then the power went off in the hall, and the computer died in the middle of the calculation.

Veniamin took the slide rule out of his briefcase, sat by the window, still bright with the sunset, and together with Angelina he worked out the last sample.

How it sounds

The opening is clean and cool: juniper and shavings of lime zest sound fresh, bergamot adds citrus lightness, and cardamom a warm spicy spark.

In the heart green jasmine buds, rosewood and galbanum give a woody, slightly resinous depth. Resins and a transparent woody note create a calm background, and rose and geranium add light flowers.

In the base styrax, vanilla, sandalwood, musk, amber and oakmoss leave an even, long and restrained trail.

What makes it special

Atom belongs to the Olfactorium collection. The brand dedicates it to modern scientists and everyone who moves progress forward: those who, on the border of chemistry and physics, give the world new discoveries, materials and substances. The brand calls it a modern, restrained and intellectual fragrance. It is a fresh woody unisex fragrance for spring and autumn.

elenakot on Kosmetista writes: "It is ink, paper and freshness. There is poise and mystery in the fragrance. It is even, like polished wood."

Fredka Oooo on Fifi notes: "An unusual fragrance that brings to mind the smell of oil paints, old papers, canvases on stretchers. Universal for men and women. I find it interesting and comfortable."

People wear it for clarity: on the day of an important calculation and on a quiet spring evening.
