A rose without powder.
Above Marfa's workbench hung an empty oak frame. She had restored it many years ago from pieces found in the attic and smoothed out every crack, but she had never decided what to put in it.
Marfa restored old furniture in a workshop on the ground floor of her house. The window looked out onto the shared courtyard, where the neighbours had laid out flower beds.
In June it rained during the night. In the morning Marfa put Theme Rose on her wrists, and cucumber, lime and tarragon sounded green and cool, while lemon, raspberry and lychee added a light juiciness.
By noon rose and violet opened on her skin, fresh and barely sweet, with a piney spark of juniper. Marfa sanded the door of a sideboard and calmly, without hurry, finished every corner.
Kira, a student from next door, sat in the courtyard with a sketchbook, drawing the flower beds still wet from the rain.
"Marfa, white roses are drifting out of your window, as if a bush were growing right in your workshop. And I didn't know what to draw next," said Kira, and turned the page of her sketchbook.
By evening cedar, sandalwood and musk remained, soft and calm, and the rose still sounded close by. Kira knocked on the workshop window and held out a sheet with a white rose covered in raindrops.
Marfa took the frame off the wall, slipped the drawing under the glass and hung it back above the workbench.
How it sounds
The opening is green and cool: cucumber, lime, tarragon and lemon sound fresh, while raspberry and lychee add a light juiciness.
The heart is a white rose: fresh, almost without sweetness, as if with drops of water on its petals. Violet softens it, and juniper adds a piney coolness.
In the base cedar, sandalwood, labdanum and musk make the scent softer and warmer, yet it stays light.
What makes it special
Theme Rose belongs to the Olfactorium collection and the Theme series. The brand card describes the series briefly: the flower, water and nothing extra. It is a floral fruity unisex fragrance for spring and summer.
