Hypnose Douce. The Tin Lantern

A tin lantern that had belonged to her grandmother hung on Evdokia's porch. One of its panes had cracked before she was born, and the lantern had never been lit, but every spring Evdokia wiped the dust off it.
Evdokia kept an apiary at the edge of the village. All summer she worked with the hives, and by September she knew every frame by touch.
On the last day of the honey harvest she put Hypnose Douce on her wrists. Bergamot and tangerine sounded bright and fresh, while fig and cardamom added a soft spice.
By noon honey, jasmine and rose opened on her skin, warm and floral, and chamomile and violet made them a little cooler. Evdokia poured honey into jars and hummed, though she usually worked in silence.
Prokhor, the neighbour over the fence, came for a jar of linden honey, as he did every autumn.
"Evdokia, you smell of flowers and honey, as if the whole meadow has come to visit. Why does your lantern still have that cracked pane? I have one that will fit in my shed," said Prokhor. Evdokia nodded and took the lantern off its nail.
By evening oakmoss and musk remained, soft and slightly tart, and the honey still sounded close by. Prokhor came back with the glass and a screwdriver.
He replaced the cracked pane, Evdokia set a candle inside, and at dusk the lantern was lit on the porch for the first time.
How it sounds
The opening is bright and spicy: bergamot and tangerine give freshness, fig a soft milky sweetness, and cardamom a warm grain.
The heart is a bouquet in honey: violet and chamomile begin cool and slightly herbal, then lily, jasmine and rose sound lush and warm.
In the base oakmoss and musk bring a soft tartness and a long warm sound in which the honey never turns cloying.
What makes it special
Hypnose Douce belongs to the Olfactorium collection. The brand calls it a floral honey fragrance dedicated to Francis Scott Fitzgerald and recalls the summer French Riviera and the evening beaches of Nice. It is a women's floral chypre fragrance for spring and autumn.
Gretta on La Parfumerie writes: "It begins with a light floral citrus pollen, which gradually gives way to a natural vanilla honey lily. Long-lasting, beautiful."
summer sleeps on La Parfumerie notes: "Honey and vanilla, thick, lightly ringing with cardamom. Incredibly sweet." Elena Chuykova in the VK group "Parfposidelki" writes: "A floral veil and honey."
People wear it for calm joy: on a warm September evening and on the day a long piece of work comes to an end.
