In the bottom drawer of Praskovya's type case lay an old set of wooden type: large letters carved from pear wood, dark with the ink of years gone by. She had bought it together with the little print shop, but she printed only on the new machine, and the wooden letters had never once been under the press.
Praskovya ran the print shop on a quiet street, printing postcards, invitations and forms. In spring the orders multiplied.
In April the cherry trees in the courtyard came into bloom. In the morning Praskovya put Cherry Sorbet on her wrists, and cherry and almond blossom sounded tender and airy, while cherry mousse added sweetness.
By noon cherry, almond and praline opened on her skin with a light touch of cinnamon, and rose, peony and jasmine softened them. Praskovya happily sorted paper for new postcards and hummed.
Yeremey, the neighbour from the ground floor, rolled his ice-cream cart out onto the street every spring and was just about to open the season.
"Praskovya, it smells of cherry sorbet in here, better than in my cart. Make me a sign, will you? Every year I write it in chalk," asked Yeremey.
By evening vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and amber remained, soft and creamy. Praskovya opened the bottom drawer of the case.
She set the word "Ice Cream" in wooden letters, printed it in cherry-red ink on thick card and carried the sign to Yeremey.
How it sounds
The opening is tender and airy: cherry and almond blossom sound bright, and cherry mousse adds a light sweetness.
In the heart cherry, almond and praline, soft and creamy, with a warm spark of cinnamon. Rose, peony, jasmine and violet give them a tender floral voice.
In the base vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, benzoin and amber wrap everything in a cosy creamy cloud.
What makes it special
Cherry Sorbet belongs to the Olfactorium collection and the sorbet series. The brand describes it as an airy melody built on the accords that traditionally accompany cherry: the scent opens with a soft lipstick-like tone, a creamy softness wraps it in a cosy cloud, and almond and vanilla notes create a balanced picture. It is a women's fruity vanilla fragrance for spring and autumn.
Pati Khakimova on Aromo writes: "A beautiful fragrance, noticeable from the first notes. Very sweet and delicious."
